1.2 TBps WiFi link developed

Posted by Funkyguy on September 14, 2008 3:47 PM

Thats right, its 1.2 tera bytes per second. Of course thats going to require some advanced technology such as lasers. Unfortunately, this also means that the team of researchers at SantAnna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy are violating the very definition of Wi-Fi.

If its using lasers, it needs line of sight connectivity. And I dont care how good it gets from there, I prefer to have walls in my apartment. Really dont care to have a line of sight visual of what my room mate is really doing while making those obnoxious sounds that he thinks no one else can hear.

Its still impressive though. their setup managed to transmit data at the aforementioned speeds over distances of a few kilometeres.
