And thats not a question, but its a statement. Consider this - the car will speak to its onbarod GPS unit and know exactly how far you are from home. The plug-in electric extended range hybrid's computer will then use that distance, along with route information, to determine how long the car needs to run the gas engine to charge the on-board battery pack, allowing the vehicle to truly maximize fuel economy.

Its something that you would unconsciously do yourself when you see a red light in the distance by shifting into neutral and saving a few precious frops of fuel when you drive a manual car. The concept is the same. By precisely knowing how far it is from its destination, the car doesnt needlessly waste fuel. The battery doesnt need to be charged using gasoline, but once you reach home and plug it into a powered outlet - the battery can recharge itself in a much greener way.
