Japan unveils Robotic Dog Nurse

Posted by Funkyguy on September 10, 2008 3:12 PM

The Dog Nurse, is quite literally a robot nurse which can move around the house helping you heal, carry stuff around as well as help in surveillance. The robot weighs approximately 5 kg and has dimension of 700 mm (height) and 530 mm (width).

The dog-bot can carry about 2 kgs weight , so you could ask it to pick up a bag of groceries and drop it off. I dont know how the surveillance bit works, but having a wired camera stuck onto the dogs back while it goes around the house doesnt seem like a sensible idea.

However its just a start to the future where robotic helpers in various shapes and sizes will be able to do a lot more. The dog robots are not for sale currently but they can be leased for five year periods which costs about 30,000 yen per month which is about 280 USD per month.
