Largest Hummer Dealership calls it a Day
September 9, 2008

In a sign of the changing times, the once popular hummers are getting a beating from not just the sky high oil prices but also the eco-conscience of the American people. The largest Hummer dealership in the country has now closed. In case you never knew where it was, we are talking about the one in Vegas.

It is at least the eighth Hummer dealer closing this year, nearly a 5% decline in the brands U.S. dealer base. With the national average for a price of gas resting at $3.66 a gallon, it costs $84 to fill up Hummer smallest model, the H3. At that price, an H3 owner in Las Vegas could fly to Los Angeles for a roundtrip weekend getaway for about as much as it would cost to drive the H3.

The Hummer brand may have gone out of fashion in the United States but still retains its appeal for buyers in Asia and the Middle East. As for the dealer in question, he plans to convert his dealership to that offering Smart cars. Smart move that.
