This wheelchair is so smart that it not just understands the commands of its user , but it can also learn to go to different places by just a single command. So you could say for example, kitchen and the chair would know exactly how to get there. The wheel chairs shall be personalised for each user since it should know how to respond to the voice of its owner.

To begin with, the chair is taken on a tour of the house and each room / landmark is identified for it and cross references with a command. A special system helps it to create a map of the house. This would allow it to know where it is and how to get to the destination. One of the further developments planned for the chair is mechanical arms that could be used to pick up and move objects. After the preliminary tests on MIT campus were through, the wheelchair is now on a trial run in a nursing home.
