Imagine ordering your TV to change channels by a simple swipe of the hand. Thats even simpler than switching menus on the iPhone 3G where you still need to touch the screen and swipe. toshibas technology which can be crudely explained as a mix between the Wiis motion detection and Apples user friendliness means that you would never again have to hunt for the remote control.

It watches for a person to come into its field of view and, once recognized, looks for their hand. Once the hand is identified, the user just makes a fist and can then wave it around in the air as if controlling a mouse.
A cursor on the TV interface moves across the screen mirroring the users fist movements. The same system could be used to recognize TV viewers and present them with personalized information or switch to their favorite channel when they walk in the room
The system is also smart enough to recognise you as the owner in a crowd and ignore the motions of others while at the same time concentrating on yours.
