VoIP never did take off properly (no thanks to the cell phone service providers who viewed this correctly as a threat to their revenue streams) ; but then again conventional intenret connections meant that the internet speed was sometimes just not up to the mark for proper VoIP connections. However VoIP should get a boost with WiBro becoming popular.

WiBro or wireless broadband is the latest buzz word in Asian markets. China, India and Korea are investing in this new technology as a manner of leap frogging over convetional technologies.
WiBro is basically the Korean version of mobile Wimax. The Korean Communications Commission (KCC), the countrys broadband and telecommunications regulator said that they are planning to allow voice calls on WiBro networks and assigning call numbers to WiBro-enabled devices.
