Now the RIAA playing the devils advocate is something that you all must be familiar with. So even this story wont be raising many eyebrows. My point of writing this article is something totally different, but let me first tell you this story anyway.
Stephanie Lenz uploaded a 30 second clip of her toddler son dancing to Princes song Go Crazy to share with family and friends back in February 2007. Universal Music Publishing insisted the music was not authorized by the copyright owner?and asked that it be removed. To make a long story short, Stephanie is now involved in a lengthy legal battle, backed by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The clip has received almost 700,000 hits because of the publicity. Do watch it, every view serves to bleed the RIAA - or so they think. Heck the sounds not even clear and its obviously a home video - nothing that even a dim wit would think that has to do with piracy.
Well, moving on to my real purpose of doing this article. I spotted the story on Gearlive. Something that Andru wrote at the end really struck my funny bone and I just had to share it with you guys. In his own words :
We know how she feels. We were recently notified that a video we shot of the Village People was taken down from YouTube after it was considered to be a copyright infringement. Considering they only have one surviving member singing in the group, you think they would have appreciated the extra publicity.
