Sony shows off transparent flexible OLED display

I cant even begin to explain the kind of revolution that you could expect if this project takes off. Imagine being unhindered by form factors in all devices , designers and manufacturers could push in interactive displays into almost everything - and that age old sci-fi story of a digi newspaper could finally come true. You could drag your own personal HDTV to everywhere ; all you need to do is roll it up.

Power savings would be enormous as would be the viewing angle which would be a huge leap ahead of even the best stuff that we see today.

The all-organic technology is see-through and flexible. Previous attempts at making clear, flexible OLEDs were hampered by size and resolution limitations, and by organic componds that distorted the image when folded. The Sony/Max Planck collaboration has overcome these problems by using unique combinations for the organic compounds within a viscous polymeric matrix.

Sony researchers are claiming this is the first time ever that someone has succesfully been able to do so in the world. However its still sometime before the technology can be used commercially. However you wouldnt have to wait more than 3 years , given Sonys previous history with getting technology to the markets asap.
