Its something that my click weary fingers will bless Apple executives for years to come. The trend that they started off by embedding accelorometers in the iPhones has now moved on to different devices.

Seen in CEATEC Japan is a remote control with the very feature. It allows users to surf channels by simply waving the remote much like a magician with a wand. Furthermore, it works on RF pf 3.4 Ghz(radio frequency tech) and not infra-red so it would not need a direct line of sight. It would also augment the remotes range significantly.

Users can also select a function or a program by stroking or lightly tapping the screen of the remote controller with a capacitive touch pad. Its been designed by Alps Electric Co. Ltd and shipments will begin in October 2008. Each control will retail for about ?,000 (approx US$48).
