The fight between good and evil was never so clear before. The villain has always had some kind of justification for going over to the dark side , which some of us can sympathise with. But when it comes to disease causing cancer cells ; you would be hard put to find even a single sympathiser. The use of the force (not so much as extremely accurate teeny lasers) is promising to open a whole new front on the fight against cancer.

Scientists (from the University of St Andrews in Scotland) have created a machine which they call as a real life light sabre which produces a laser so accurately that it can punch a hole into an individual cell and let the drugs enter from there and work much more effectively. Removal of tumours is often not the end of cancer since a few cells may escape and cause tumours in other parts of the body after a few months - but this technique will allow the cells around the remove tumour to be specifically targetted and bombarded with drugs thus reducing the chances of the cancer coming back.
And here I quote the developer of the device , You could think of these as tiny light sabres like they had in Star Wars inside your body. We can use lasers to punch tiny holes exactly where we want them. We can produce a rod of light - sometimes described as a sword - that can even go around objects. It really does sound like science fiction.
The break-through even promises treatment to Alzheimers in the near future.
