Police in Brazil are so fed up of the spiralling car jackings that they have come up with a fool-proof solution. Its not terribly original, indeed its been around in the developed world for some time now ; but its just surprising why upcoming nations dont simply leap frog onto these technologies and do away with such problems once and for all.

The cars will have GPS devices embedded in them which let the owner and police track the cars. However in order to make sure that the thieves cant get away while the chase is on, the cops will even be able to shut off the car using the same technology. Now thats something that the developed world never had. I am going to be keeping a close look on this one and see how things turn out. There does seem to be a lot of potential for mis-use especially if someone figures out how to fool the system into thinking its been asked to shut off the car.
Also , thieves have been known to use some conveniently low tech solutions to solve hi-tech ones. Lets see how this one plays out.
