Dolby, best known for their surround sound systems have taken it upon themselves to be the messiahs who shall deliver you from 2D vision into true 3D vision. Dolby is trying to get a first mover advantage for its 3D technology by indulging in talks with Blu-Ray DVD makers as well as video game designers. Dolby wants to ensure that you enter the third dimension in 2009 and they are the ones responsible for getting you there.

Its an admirable strategy. Lot of companies are working on and have their own proprietary technologies of showing users 3D vision ; but in the end its the one thats marketed in the best manner that shall win and not the technology itself thats the best.

The good part about Dolbys tech is that its completely backwards compatible and does not put any hardware requirements to the fore.
