iCE Phone

The idea of ICE has been around for some time now. It encourages people to enter emergency contacts in their cell phone address book under the name "ICE". ICE meaning In Case of Emergency. I dont know if thats why they christened this handset the ICE Phone, but its definitely something that paramedics and doctors will appreciate having in an emergency instead of their normal cell phone.

The handset was initially designed for the British military , but the developers thought that it held great potential and came up with a civilian version too. The handset has 3G capability, runs on the Windows Mobile operating system and has a QWERTY keypad in addition to its touch screen. PTT and Bluetooth are the functions where you draw the line for this being a normal handset.

Features:

  • Windows Mobile micro-notebook
  • Fully featured 3G touch phone
  • Games player with multiple triggers
  • Satellite Navigation via GPS
  • Large landscape screen, (to ease web browsing and mobile office working)
  • Full QWERTY functionality
  • Mouse
  • Touch typing and multi-key strokes (eg Ctrl-Alt-Del)

When in medical mode, the handset is designed to assist anyone, anywhere in the world affected by a medical emergency. The software package reduces the time to receive appropriate treatment – the critical factor in emergency medicine. It has three main functions:

  • Provides step by step emergency first aid software to lead you by the hand and show you what to do and how to do it
  • Automatically records what has been done and compiles a handover report to give to the emergency services
  • Holds your medical records in a safe and secure fashion
