Designing your own CD with laser etched designs on its face gives personalisation a whole new dimension. While a bit on the pricey side, drives capable of doing this have been available for some time now. However besides the price factor, they were also hampered by low speeds. Lacie has figured out a way to give us the technology while also allowing us to write the disks at a higher speed.
Called as LaCie d2 DVD±RW 22x with LightScribe (USB or USB & FireWire) , these drives come at 22x speed. The drive will retail for about USD $120. The drive itself is a stylish black mirror finish that attracts the eye.
At the same time a hard drive with similar looks was also announced. This one with a capacity of a breathtaking 2 TB. It can be used as a Raid 0 or Raid 1 because it contains two seperate drives inside. The front USB 2.0 expansion port also allows for external data back-ups as well. The LaCie Hard Disk Max will retail for $269.99.
