Old iPods made into Speakers for new ones

Posted by Yash on January 3, 2009 2:54 PM

Older iPods have no resale value and their low storage capacities means that the real music lover will be forced to go in for a new iPod thanks to the vast differences in technology and storage that accompanies every new release. A DIY guru frustrated of being unable to do anything with these old iPods (he obviously hadnt heard about our story of refurbishing them into new ones) ; has managed to convert them into speakers.

The iPods are hollowed out and with a speaker where the click-wheel used to be, there’s a 2.25 inch speaker in there powered by a standard AA battery. If you are looking for to go in for this DIY project , expect to shell out about 60 to 100$ USD. The full manual for the process is here.
