Pumpkin Power : Calabash protects Skulls in Nigeria

Posted by Yash on January 7, 2009 2:56 PM

Dried Pumpkin Shells or Calabashes which are generally used to carry liquids are now being used as helmets in Nigeria. Its one thing to know that the common man is protesting against the rule of law because it costs them USD $30 to buy one , but its entirely another thing to use a calabash to avoid black magic. For you see, the potent witches in Nigeria are adapt at using juju to gain mind control over the innocent helmet wearer.

But if you wear a calabash, you are absolutely safe from any such hocus-pocus. Of course the fact that it may result in a cracked skull isnt stopping people from still putting them on to prevent law enforcement officers from issuing a fine.

More than 4,000 people die on Nigerias roads every year and 20,000 are injured. Motorbike cabs are extremely popular in Nigeria and the government often hands them around to jobless young men allowing them to earn a honest living. Its just that they get greedy and resort to juju magic.

We tried hard, but just couldnt get a real shot of one of these skull protectors. If you are in Nigeria then do send in a snap , but please keep your zillions to yourself.
