In fact they were so eager to make sure that the title belonged to them in the upcoming CES (2009) that they even dispensed with the tuner / receiver unit which is an intrinsic part of any modern TV. The latest worlds thinnest TV is just 6.5 mm thick and will be showcased at the CES in Las Vegas.
While we have not managed to locate any images of this TV - we did grab this byte from Samsungs spokesman : As it has adopted the sophisticated new material of LED (light emitting diode) as a light source, image quality, definition and appearance have been much enhanced .
A separate tuner device is thrown in with the purchase so the TV can actually do what it was supposed to and not just be a mirror on the wall.
In any of you is keeping count, mind you that the companies like to claim the worlds thinnest titles and then clear it up by saying that its the worlds slimmest HDTV or normal LCD or any other type which somehow differentiates it from the claim of its competitors. However this one does seem to take the prize by a long shot.
Please note that the accompanying image is not the one of the slimmest TV but that of another Samsung LCD on show, we have not been able to locate any images for this product, it is possible Samsung is keeping things under wraps until the announcement in CES.
