SD Cards go the Super Sized Way

A coupe of SD cards on a late night date went to McDonalds for a snack. When asked to super size their meal , they looked astounded and rushed back home. Its then that they realised what they needed to do if there was a future for their species. Super Size themselves of course!
The SD Association has announced at CES that they have released a new set of specifications called SDXC (eXtended Capacity) which will be able to support capacities up to 2TB with read/write speeds up to104MB per second.
Thats TWO Terabytes, which is more than what most of us have on our laptops and desktops combined. Lets just hope this doesnt mean looking for files or switching on the phone gets similar to a Windows boot up. A 2TB SDXC memory card can store 100 HD movies, 60 hours of HD recording or 17,000 fine-grade photos.
Its going to take some time, maybe we should see a few expensive cards by the end of this year. However , I am sure its going to be affordable and easily available by mid of 2010 when manufacturers pick up on this big time. They do need to run out of their current inventories before they get there.
